Schoonord to Crane Four-Lane Highway Nears Completion

The $11.8 billion Schoonord to Crane four-lane highway project is 85% complete and expected to finish by the end of June 2024. This modern infrastructure initiative will significantly reduce traffic congestion on the West Coast of Demerara. The project, involving eight contractors and divided into eleven lots, includes a 4.1-kilometer dual carriageway, road rehabilitation, roundabouts, bridges, and culverts. Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, confirmed that seven of the lots are complete, with final works on the remaining four underway.
