New Job Opportunities in Guyana’s Mining Sector

President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali recently announced that approximately 1,500 new job opportunities will be created in Guyana’s Region Seven due to the commencement of two new large-scale mining operations. During a community engagement event, President Ali detailed that each mining site would employ around 700 workers, who will all receive the necessary training for their roles. Additionally, the government is considering establishing a call center in the region, offering further employment opportunities. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to promote economic development and sustainability in the hinterland, which also includes the introduction of large-scale agricultural projects focused on honey, citrus, and sweet cassava production. This development reflects a significant investment in the region’s infrastructure and aims to improve the quality of life and service level for its residents.
