Guyana Strengthens Oil and Gas Sector Monitoring with Advanced Technologies

Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo announced significant advancements in monitoring the oil and gas sector activities in Guyana. The Environmental Protection Agency, in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources, has implemented satellite imaging and real-time monitoring systems aboard Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading Vessels (FPSOs). These technologies not only enable the detection of oil leaks but also ensure environmental compliance by testing discharge water against strengthened international standards. The government aims to continually enhance these capabilities, affirming its commitment to responsible environmental stewardship in the burgeoning sector.
