CGX Delays Berbice Deep-Water Port Launch to Late 2024

CGX Energy Inc. has announced another delay in the operational launch of the Berbice Deep-Water Port (BDWP), now expected to commence initial cargo operations in the third quarter of 2024. Originally slated to begin in early 2022, the project has faced multiple setbacks, pushing its start date back several times. The $130 million facility aims to support offshore oil and gas activities and will serve as a multi-purpose terminal for various cargoes. Recent developments include the completion of a trestle and preparations for the full cargo terminal operations set for the first half of 2025. This project is seen as a critical part of Guyana's strategy to become a logistics hub in South America and the Caribbean.
